Applied Digital said it will develop a 1-gigawatt data-center campus in Finland, according to Datacenter Dynamics. Details on the site, power sourcing and timeline were not in the initial report.
The timing is the signal. The company reports third-quarter earnings Wednesday after the close, and the Finland announcement lands a day before management faces questions on lease pricing, contracted backlog and funding conditions. Nordic markets offer abundant clean power and cool climates, the same attributes drawing hyperscalers to the region.
The project adds to a crowded week of AI-infrastructure announcements: Google’s 3.6-gigawatt Constellation nuclear deal and TeraWulf’s 1-gigawatt Kentucky campus target all point the same direction. The question for tomorrow’s call is whether Applied Digital can convert announcements into contracted revenue at economics that cover its funding costs.
