Finsch diamond mine equipment goes under the hammer

Administrators appointed Park Village Auctions to sell the underground mobile fleet and infrastructure of the Finsch diamond mine, in business rescue near Lime Acres in the Northern Cape.

Why it matters: The disposal confirms Finsch's restart is off the table and sets a floor price reference for used underground equipment across the region.

Data as of Sale program announced Oct 7, 2026; auction closings Oct 14-Nov 17, 2026; single-sourced: International Mining

The structured sale follows approval of the business rescue plan and covers mining, processing and supporting infrastructure. Several initial timed online auctions and invitations to submit offers have already concluded, with results to be published with permission.

The remaining program features timed online auctions for electrical stores, cabling, belting and winder ropes closing October 14, the main stores complex, store yards and workshop closing October 21, and redundant mobile plant including underground equipment closing October 27. Park Village Auctions is also inviting offers on the underground trackless mobile machinery fleet, with offers closing November 17: 20 Sandvik load-haul-dumpers (2012-2023), 13 Sandvik drill rigs and bolters (2014-2023), five Epiroc Simba long-hole drill rigs (2020-2023), seven Sandvik TH430 articulated dumpers (2022-2023), 19 AARD utility vehicles (2015-2025), plus Manitou telehandlers, underground cranes and support equipment.

The sale is a disposal of a distressed asset, not a going concern, and the auctioneer frames it as an opportunity for operators to acquire well-maintained late-model equipment. No buyer for the mine itself has been announced.
