Kamoa-Kakula produced 76,401 tonnes of copper in saleable products in the third quarter, up from 64,328 tonnes in the second quarter, helped by higher mining rates at the Kamoa and Kansoko mines, where volumes increased about 30 percent to more than 700,000 tonnes a month. The complex is owned by Ivanhoe, China’s Zijin and the Congolese state.
Ivanhoe said its Kipushi zinc mine in Congo produced 77,147 tonnes of zinc in concentrate, up 10 percent quarter on quarter, and is on track for the upper end of its 2026 guidance range of 240,000 to 290,000 tonnes. The on-site smelter produced a record 118,638 tonnes of high-strength sulphuric acid, with the average net realized price roughly doubling to about $900 a tonne on strong Congolese copper-belt demand. A new 60 MW hybrid solar facility reached full capacity in September, cutting diesel consumption by about 40 percent from July, and Ivanhoe signed power purchase agreements to double site solar capacity to 120 MW within 18 months.
