GTCR has raised more than $14.2 billion for its fifteenth flagship private equity fund, passing its $13.5 billion target and landing nearly 24 percent above its predecessor.

Why it matters: Another mega-manager raise far above target shows the fundraising recovery remains concentrated at the top, with capital pooling in the largest buyout franchises.

Data as of Reported October 9, 2026. Single-sourced: AltAssets. Fund XV still in market; figures not confirmed by the firm.

Chicago-based GTCR has raised more than $14.2 billion for Fund XV, its fifteenth flagship private equity fund, according to AltAssets reporting on October 9. The raise has surpassed the $13.5 billion target reported for the vehicle and sits nearly 24 percent above the predecessor fund, as the firm moves toward a final close.

The raise adds to a run of oversubscribed flagship fundraises in the same week, including Spectrum Equity’s $2.5 billion close and Bridgepoint exceeding its 28 billion euro target three months early. The pattern is consistent with PitchBook data cited this week showing global PE exit value up 65 percent in the third quarter while fundraising keeps shrinking: capital is returning to the market’s largest franchises first.

The figures are single-sourced to AltAssets and not confirmed by GTCR, so the raise is tracked here at grade C pending the firm’s own announcement.
