Spectrum Equity closed Fund XI at $2.5 billion, completing an oversubscribed process in a single close, the firm announced. The vehicle is the largest in the Boston-based firm’s history and lifts its total raised across 11 funds to more than $12.5 billion since its 1994 founding. The new fund is 25 percent larger than its $2 billion predecessor, a measured step-up in a fundraising environment that remains difficult for many technology-focused managers.
The strategy targets founder-led software, artificial intelligence and data-services companies with limited or no prior institutional backing, deploying $25 million to $250 million per company. Spectrum plans to pursue opportunities created by AI adoption across enterprise software, data infrastructure and technology services, while managing director Ben Spero framed the firm’s history as investing across waves of innovation without chasing hype cycles.
The close is the latest in a run of successful technology-manager raises this week, and it lands the same day GTCR reported passing $14.2 billion for its fifteenth flagship, evidence that large established managers keep attracting capital while smaller firms struggle.
