Vizsla Copper hits high-grade silver at Palmer

Mining Friday, October 9, 2026 · Updated Oct 9, 2026 07:13

Vizsla Copper's standout hole at the AG deposit cut 21 metres grading 207.5 grams silver per tonne in a higher-grade section, as the company works toward an updated Palmer resource estimate in the first quarter.

Why it matters: High-grade silver infill at a volcanogenic massive sulphide project in southeast Alaska strengthens a resource update that could reprice a junior developer.

Data as of Drilling results reported October 7, 2026; resource estimate targeted Q1 2027. Figures per company release via The Northern Miner.

Vizsla Copper (TSXV: VCU) says new drilling at its Palmer copper-zinc project in southeast Alaska highlights the property’s potential for high-grade silver mineralization. Standout hole CMR26-215 at the AG deposit cut 21 metres grading 4.79 percent zinc, 0.14 percent copper, 116.9 grams silver per tonne and 0.27 gram gold from 180.3 metres depth, the company said Wednesday. Within that interval, a higher-grade 7-metre section returned 5.46 percent zinc, 207.5 grams silver and 0.45 gram gold from 182 metres downhole.

A second hole, CMR26-211, cut 37.2 metres grading 3.62 percent zinc and 26.1 grams silver from 145.1 metres, including 12.8 metres at 7.79 percent zinc. The AG drilling was the first at the deposit since 2019, and all three holes from the 2026 infill program are now complete. The results will feed a geological model update and an updated mineral resource estimate for Palmer targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

The context is the existing 2025 resource: 4.77 million indicated tonnes grading 1.69 percent copper, 5.17 percent zinc, 28.4 grams silver and 0.29 gram gold, translating into 178 million pounds of copper, 543 million pounds of zinc, 4.35 million ounces of silver and 43,900 ounces of gold, plus 12 million inferred tonnes. AG is particularly silver-rich and makes up a significant portion of the inferred resource. Located about 60 km from tidewater near the Canadian border, the 330-sq-km VMS project has seen more than $116 million (C$164 million) of historical investment and roughly 96,000 metres of drilling since Vizsla Copper acquired it in December 2025. The company has yet to publish an economic study, cost estimate or development schedule, and shares dropped 5.1 percent to C$1.11 on the drilling news, valuing it near C$100 million.
