Nine people are dead, including two children and the suspected gunman, after a shooting and lengthy police standoff Friday evening in Erie, Pennsylvania. Police were dispatched around 4:52 p.m. to reports of gunfire near a residence on Perry Street, where officers found two women fatally shot outside; the gunman barricaded himself inside, and tactical officers later found additional victims, including children, in the home. The gunman was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah described the scene as among the worst of his 28-year career, Governor Josh Shapiro offered the state’s full support to Erie Mayor Daria Devlin, and the city scheduled a 4 p.m. Saturday news conference.
