Astranis announced a $468 million credit agreement with the US Export-Import Bank to scale GEO satellite production at its California factory, taking the company's total funding to $1.66 billion.
Why it matters: A US government lender backing GEO manufacturing, over LEO or rocket alternatives, signals Washington views the orbit's infrastructure role as a strategic priority worth subsidising.

Satellite builder Astranis announced a $468 million credit agreement with the Export-Import Bank of the United States to support manufacturing jobs and onshore satellite-building infrastructure, the company said Monday. The line, arranged and structured by J.P. Morgan’s Securitized Products Group, takes Astranis’s total funding to $1.66 billion, following a $450 million Series E package in May.
EXIM chairman John Jovanovic said the bank is coordinating with NASA and the Office of Strategic Space Finance to channel private capital into space supply chains. Astranis builds smaller MicroGEO satellites at its 153,000 sq ft Northern California headquarters, has five GEO craft in orbit, and holds more than $1.2 billion in commercial contracts with customers including Gulf Space Technology in Thailand, Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan, and Saudi Telecom.
