CRH, the building materials group listed in New York, signed an agreement to acquire NCC Industry’s operations in Denmark and Finland from NCC AB. The transaction remains subject to applicable approvals and customary closing conditions, with completion expected during 2027.
In Denmark, CRH gains a national network of asphalt plants plus land- and marine-based aggregates sites with substantial high-quality reserves. In Finland, the assets are an attractive network of reserve-backed hard-rock quarries along with backfilling and recycling operations, which CRH said will complement its existing Finnish businesses. The businesses will continue to operate independently until completion.
The acquisition is one half of NCC’s wider disposal of its entire Industry division, which NCC describes as a single transaction with two buyers at an enterprise value of SEK 8.2 billion (about £617 million). Heidelberg Materials will acquire the Industry operations in Sweden and Norway, comprising 106 aggregates sites with substantial mineral reserves and 44 hot-mix asphalt plants. NCC said it expects about SEK 7 billion of positive cash flow from the cash settlement, plans to focus on contracting, and will report Industry as discontinued operations from the third quarter of 2026. The division generated sales of SEK 12.6 billion (about £948 million) and operating profit of SEK 879 million in 2025.
CRH’s Peter Buckley, president of CRH International, said the acquisition is strongly aligned with the strategy of building an aggregates-led, connected portfolio positioned for infrastructure megatrends. The Nordic purchase follows CRH’s June agreement to buy U.S.-based Arcosa for $8.5 billion, the largest acquisition in its history, and sits within a five-year plan that earmarks $28 billion of a $40 billion capital program for investment.
