Infra deals also notable on October 12

Infrastructure Monday, October 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026 07:15

The UK's September merger data is old news, MAAS Group sinks after the Firmus IPO pullback, Thoma Bravo's BlueMatrix buys Aiera, AusSuper calls the US-Asia returns gap, Nio's battery swaps hit a weekly record, and Dangote's IPO closes tomorrow.

Why it matters: The smaller items keep the week's pattern: public-market punishment for AI-infrastructure valuations, private equity add-ons in software, and the Dangote listing entering its final hours.

Data as of Items dated October 7-12, 2026; the CMA merger-outcomes page is not new (last updated September 10, 2026) and is noted only to close out the triage flag.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority’s “Merger investigation outcomes” transparency page, flagged in this morning’s triage, is not new: the page was last updated on September 10, 2026, as a routine monthly data publication. It is not presented as a development.

MAAS Group shares slid to a six-month low as investors continued to punish AI infrastructure exposure after Firmus pulled its Australian IPO last week, Investing.com reported. MAAS, an Australian data center and infrastructure investor, traded down further as the valuation fallout from Firmus’s collapsed bookbuild spread across the sector.

Orlando Bravo-backed BlueMatrix added Aiera to its investment-research software platform, with the Thoma Bravo co-founder telling PE Hub the combined business “will become the standard” for investment research. The add-on is a classic buy-and-build move in financial software infrastructure, consolidating research tools for the buy side.

AustralianSuper’s investment team told Private Equity International that the returns gap between the United States and Asia “might start to narrow,” a view that matters because the country’s largest pension fund is one of the most watched allocators in global private markets. Any rotation in its geographic weightings would move real money.

Nio completed 1.2 million battery swaps in a single week, a throughput record for its swap-station network, Electrek reported. The figure is a rare public data point on the utilization of swap infrastructure versus plug-in charging, and it shows the network scaling well beyond a pilot.

Dangote Refinery’s IPO subscription period ends tomorrow, October 13. The offer of 4.1 billion shares at N525 each seeks to raise about N2.15 trillion ($1.6 billion) to fund the expansion from 700,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2029, with cross-border participation opened in Kenya and Uganda through depositary receipts. Watch the close for whether retail demand lives up to the “IPO for the people” billing.

The European Commission opened a call for feedback on methane emissions reporting templates, the administrative backbone of the EU’s methane rules for the energy sector. The consultation is process rather than policy, but the templates will determine what oil and gas importers and operators actually have to disclose.
