DPR Construction has broken ground on the new Kaiser Permanente Westminster Medical Offices in Westminster, Colorado. Kaiser confirmed the 132,000 square foot, three-storey build will cost $230 million, Construction Dive reported, making it the system’s most significant brick and mortar investment in Colorado since 2011.
The facility, immediately south of the current Westminster offices opened in 1976, will house an outpatient surgery centre and urgent care alongside primary and specialty care, OB-GYN services, a pharmacy, laboratory services, medical imaging and paediatrics. It is scheduled to open in 2028 and will be Kaiser’s third outpatient surgery centre in the Denver metro area.
DPR will use prefabricated and modular construction across structural steel, exterior facades, interior spaces and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, moving work off the jobsite to improve schedule certainty and reduce site complexity, an approach the contractor says suits complex healthcare environments.
The investment is owned infrastructure rather than leased space: an integrated payer-provider committing $230 million to a single suburban medical campus is a long horizon bet on membership growth in the North Denver metro area.
