Nokia signed a definitive agreement on October 13 to sell its Enterprise Campus Edge business to private equity group Aurelius, with closing expected in the first half of 2027 and no price disclosed.

Why it matters: The carve-out moves a private wireless business serving nearly 900 industrial customers out of a telecom equipment group and into standalone private equity ownership focused on industrial digitalisation.

Data as of Agreement signed October 13, 2026 (Nokia release); closing expected first half of 2027 subject to customary conditions; purchase price not disclosed.

Nokia announced on October 13 that it has signed a definitive agreement for Aurelius to acquire its Enterprise Campus Edge business, known as ECE. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions, and Nokia did not disclose a price.

ECE is a private wireless business serving nearly 900 customers in manufacturing, mining, logistics, airports, ports and power generation. Its portfolio covers industrial devices, on-premises operational technology edge and micro-edge systems, and software for industrial AI use cases, processing operational data on site for security and sovereignty reasons.

Nokia framed the sale as portfolio sharpening, directing capital and resources to the network businesses where it believes it can create the most long-term value. Its corporate development chief said continuity for customers and employees is the priority through the transition.

Aurelius, buying through its funds, argues ECE will move faster as a standalone business, with dedicated focus on private 5G and industrial edge and room to expand into AI powered industrial automation. The deal is a textbook carve-out: a non-core but market leading unit whose value depends on independence and investment rather than on its parent’s scale.
