ASML reported record third quarter net sales of 11.7 billion euros, a touch under analyst expectations, while net income of 5.0 billion euros beat the 4.1 billion expected by a wide margin, and fourth quarter sales guidance of 14.2 to 15.2 billion euros topped what analysts had pencilled in.
Why it matters: ASML was the test this site flagged after Tuesday's chip selloff, and the demand side passed emphatically: profit and guidance beat, and customers are asking about orders for 2029 and 2030, which cuts against the repricing that hit Samsung, SK Hynix and the Kospi, even though third quarter sales landed slightly light.
Data as of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, overnight. ASML third quarter release opened and read in full via GlobeNewswire; the CNBC and Reuters reports were both read in full in a live browser session, and the LSEG consensus figures are as those reports cite them. Correction, Wednesday overnight: an earlier version of this story said net sales as well as profit beat expectations. Sales of 11.662 billion euros were in fact slightly below the 11.72 billion analysts expected; the profit beat, 4.960 billion against 4.1 billion expected, stands. ASML’s third quarter split against the market and cleared it where it counted. Net sales were a record 11.662 billion euros, toward the high end of company guidance and up from 9.326 billion in the second quarter, but slightly below the 11.72 billion euros that analysts polled by LSEG had expected. Net income of 4.960 billion euros was well above the 4.1 billion expected, with a gross margin of 57.5 percent, above guidance on service and upgrade sales of 3.289 billion euros. The fourth quarter guide, 14.2 to 15.2 billion euros of sales at a gross margin near 57 percent, sits above the 14.19 billion of sales and 55.4 percent margin analysts expected, and the full year sales range narrowed to 44 to 45 billion euros, its low end raised from 43 billion.
Chief executive Christophe Fouquet said customers are raising their short and medium term demand forecasts on the size and duration of AI investment, that some are asking about placing orders for 2029 and 2030, and that supply as planned for 2027 and 2028 will not fully meet demand, so the company is studying a capacity increase for 2028 beyond the 30 percent rise already flagged. CNBC reported that Samsung and TSMC committed in the quarter to use ASML’s next generation High NA EUV tools. ASML also bought back about 4.1 billion euros of its own shares in the quarter and set an interim dividend of 1.88 euros a share, payable November 4.
