Lockheed Martin expands Texas munitions plant in $300 million build

Infrastructure Wednesday, October 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026 17:46

Lockheed Martin said on Wednesday it is investing 300 million dollars to expand its Grand Prairie, Texas missiles plant to more than 735,000 square feet, part of a hiring plan for 6,000 jobs across the United States, including 2,000 in Texas.

Why it matters: Grand Prairie supports the PAC-3 MSE, THAAD, PrSM and JATM missile programs, and the expansion is one piece of an 8 to 9 billion dollar program through 2030 to lift munitions output across more than 20 US sites.

Lockheed Martin is expanding its Grand Prairie operation in Texas, adding 100,000 square feet of new manufacturing space and converting 85,000 square feet of offices, in a 300 million dollar investment aimed at record production of missile components. The site feeds final assembly plants in Arkansas and Alabama and supports all of the company’s Missiles and Fire Control programs.

A new partner, Hadrian, will install a 24 machine automated machining cell at the plant, due to run in early 2027, under a seven year agreement the two companies signed in 2025. Lockheed Martin said the Texas work sits inside a broader commitment to invest 8 to 9 billion dollars through 2030 to scale munitions production and expand or modernise more than 20 facilities nationwide.
