Icon, the Austin, Texas company that builds large robots which 3D print structures, has raised $200 million in a Series D round co led by Baillie Gifford and funds managed by BlackRock, the company announced on October 13. Capital Factory, CAZ Investments, Moderne Ventures, Moonshots Capital, Norwest, Overmatch, The Syndicate and Tiger Global also participated. CNBC reported the round takes total funding to $700 million at a $1.4 billion valuation; neither figure appears in the company’s own announcement.
The money starts production of Titan, Icon’s multi storey robotic printer, at its Austin factory, funds a large new research and development facility in the city, and supports expansion across Texas, Florida, Washington, D.C. and new US markets. Titan carries a list price of $899,000 and can print structures up to a 27 foot build height. The strategic shift is from printing buildings itself to selling the printer to other builders.
Icon says it has completed more than 270 printed homes and structures across five states and two countries, and that it is on pace for fourfold revenue growth in 2026, a company claim that is not independently verified. Its order book is anchored by government work: a $62.8 million US Army contract in January to print 10 barracks at Fort Bliss, described as the largest deployment of robotic construction in Department of Defense history, and a $57.2 million NASA award in 2022 for construction using lunar material.
