OMass Therapeutics has collected 310 million dollars in new financing, Endpoints News reported, arming the Oxford based company for its race against Neurocrine Biosciences and Vertex Pharmaceuticals in congenital adrenal hyperplasia, a genetic disorder of cortisol production.
CAH has become one of endocrinology’s contested markets: patients need cortisol replacement without the long term costs of steroid excess, and the first modern entrants have shown the commercial shape of the prize. OMass, built on its OdyssION mass spectrometry platform for drug discovery against hard targets including membrane proteins, is now funded to run the registrational race rather than admire it.
The size of the round is the signal. At 310 million dollars it is priced for phase 3 execution and launch preparation, not exploration, and it puts a UK discovery platform in a head to head with two of the best capitalised mid caps in the United States.
