TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker, posted a record third-quarter net profit for a sixth straight quarter, with profit rising 68.7 percent from a year earlier to NT$763.1 billion, ahead of the NT$746.34 billion LSEG SmartEstimate, on revenue of NT$1.49 trillion, or $46.36 billion, against NT$1.47 trillion expected. September revenue had already risen 54.6 percent from a year earlier to NT$511.86 billion, and the company in July outlined a total planned investment of $265 billion in Arizona, with a further expansion in Texas reportedly under evaluation. Guidance for the fourth quarter, due on the earnings call later on Thursday, is the remaining test of whether AI chip demand holds its pace into 2027.
