26North Partners, Josh Harris’s investment firm, has agreed to acquire MEI Industrial Solutions from Olympus Partners, the two firms announced. MEI is the national contractor that stores, moves and installs heavy, high-value equipment: power and cooling plant inside hyperscale data centres, precision tools in chip plants, production lines in battery and pharmaceutical facilities, and machinery for aerospace, defence and space programmes.
The scale is in the footprint. MEI runs 30 operating locations and 90 storage facilities with 10 million square feet of industrial storage and nearly 2,500 employees. Under Olympus, it grew from 16 locations, quadrupled indoor storage, entered Chicago, Miami, Providence and Richmond, and completed seven acquisitions.
Terms were not disclosed. The strategic logic was stated plainly by 26North: demand for equipment execution rises with the AI buildout, reshoring and the growing size and complexity of the machinery involved, and MEI is the scaled national platform in a fragmented, local trade. It is the picks-and-shovels layer of the data centre boom changing hands between sponsors at the top of the cycle.
