Equinox Gold’s third quarter production jumped 34 percent year on year to 234,400 ounces, up 17 percent on the second quarter, as the enlarged group began to show the benefit of the Orla Mining merger. The Greenstone mine in Ontario set a quarterly record, leading a portfolio that now spans Canada, the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
The merger math is the story. Equinox and Orla pitched their combination as creating a 1.5 million ounce a year producer at 2025 combined output; a 234,400 ounce quarter annualises well below that, so the ramp at Greenstone and the Mexican assets has to keep delivering for the deal case to hold.
For now the tape is helping. Gold settled at 4,203.70 dollars an ounce in the site tables, up 0.81 percent, and the gold miners basket rose 4.34 percent, the strongest group move of the session, giving producers little excuse on price.
