Evolution Equity Partners has closed a 950 million dollar fund dedicated to cybersecurity, with a mandate that extends to the AI security category that has grown out of enterprise model adoption. The firm, which backs growth stage security companies from offices in New York and Europe, raised the vehicle against a market in which security remains the most defensive line in the technology budget.
The fund’s size is the signal. Dedicated cyber vehicles at near a billion dollars assume a steady supply of late stage companies reaching the scale where growth equity, rather than venture capital or a strategic sale, is the marginal buyer. Platform consolidation by Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike and the hyperscalers has created that supply, and priced it.
For founders, a fund like this changes the exit maths: staying independent with growth capital is again a funded option, which raises the price strategics must pay. For the market, it is another data point that AI’s first durable enterprise budget, after compute itself, is securing the systems AI runs on.
