Liquidia files Yutrepia in Europe, wins FDA review date

Liquidia has submitted a European marketing application for its inhaled treprostinil powder YUTREPIA and won FDA acceptance of a supplemental application for an additional pulmonary hypertension indication, with an action date of February 16, 2027.

Why it matters: YUTREPIA is Liquidia's challenge to United Therapeutics' Tyvaso franchise; a European filing and a dated US label expansion turn a single product company into a two front regulatory story with a hard catalyst in February.

Data as of Company announcements October 2026 (GlobeNewswire releases). FDA action date February 16, 2027 as stated by the company.

Liquidia is taking YUTREPIA, its dry powder inhaled treprostinil, to Europe, filing a marketing authorisation application for the pulmonary arterial hypertension treatment while the US Food and Drug Administration accepted a supplemental application to expand the drug’s use in pulmonary hypertension associated with lung disease, setting an action date of February 16, 2027.

Treprostinil is a proven molecule delivered awkwardly: the incumbent products require nebulisers or pumps, and an inhaled dry powder that patients can use in seconds is a genuine convenience and adherence claim. Liquidia’s fight has never been about whether the drug works, but about patents and market access against United Therapeutics, which defends the much larger Tyvaso franchise.

The twin filings change the company’s risk shape. European review runs on its own clock, the February FDA date is now the sector’s next hard catalyst in pulmonary hypertension, and every quarter of US sales between now and then funds the expansion rather than a financing.
