Global unlisted closed end infrastructure funds reached 65.5 billion dollars in final closes in the third quarter of 2026 across 17 vehicles, Infralogic reported, more than twice the 31.6 billion dollars raised in the first two quarters combined. Three large closes accounted for 64.5 percent of the quarter: KKR Global Infrastructure Investors V at 19.2 billion dollars, Partners Group Direct Infrastructure IV at 15 billion dollars and Energy Capital Partners VI at 8.1 billion dollars. Three continuation vehicles raised a further 5.2 billion dollars between them.
The rebound is timing, not breadth. Fundraising for the first nine months totals 97.2 billion dollars against 159.5 billion dollars in the same period of record year 2025, a fall of 39 percent. Excluding the three megafunds, the remaining funds raised 23.2 billion dollars, up only 1.9 percent on a year earlier, and funds closing below 1 billion dollars raised 3.1 billion dollars, down from 6.6 billion dollars.
FIRSTavenue’s Alasdair Maclay, quoted in the report, said the strong quarter was mostly about the timing of the mega fund closes, and that limited partners concentrating commitments among fewer, larger managers takes share away from smaller funds. The structure of the quarter supports him: the asset class is not short of capital, it is short of managers LPs will still back at mid size.
