Elon Musk and his America PAC have agreed to settle two proposed class actions that accused them of defrauding voters with the $1 million a day petition giveaway run before the 2024 election.
Why it matters: The settlement, which still needs court approval and whose terms were not disclosed, would close one of the main legal challenges to the cash giveaway Musk used to drive petition signatures in swing states during the 2024 campaign.

Elon Musk and his America PAC have agreed to settle two proposed class actions over the $1 million a day giveaway the PAC ran before the 2024 United States election. The plaintiffs, Arizona residents, alleged that Musk defrauded voters in closely contested states by promising a lottery style daily prize to random signatories of his petition, misleading voters in seven swing states into signing it. Musk and America PAC denied the allegations.
The parties told the federal judge overseeing the two related cases in Austin, Texas, on Thursday that settlements had been reached. The agreements are subject to court approval, the filings included no settlement terms, and lawyers in the case declined to comment. America PAC was the group Musk founded to support Donald Trump’s successful 2024 run for a second term.
