Nscale’s data center project in Glomfjord, Norway, is reportedly running six months behind schedule, according to Bloomberg reporting cited by Datacenter Dynamics, after construction delays, local regulation issues, leaks in the cooling system and a transformer fire. Currently 6.4 megawatts of the planned 30 megawatts is operational at the site, and the company has reportedly brought in a floating hotel to house construction workers nearby.
A source familiar with the project disputed parts of that account in the same report, saying the transformer fire occurred in December 2025, temporary generators ran cooling while switchgear was replaced, the leak was resolved within weeks, and while there was an overall delay it was communicated to the customer with no fines or penalties imposed. Datacenter Dynamics said it had contacted Nscale for comment.
The stakes are financial as much as operational. Nscale is preparing an initial public offering at a reported valuation of up to 35 billion dollars, and its September prospectus lists five active data centers offering a combined 55 megawatts with 12 more in development, against 103 billion dollars in total contracted value tied largely to Anthropic and Microsoft contracts. The same prospectus lists construction delays and site accidents among its risk factors, and reports revenue of 140.6 million dollars for the six months to June 2026 against a loss of 1.02 billion dollars.
