Supermicro raises revenue outlook sharply on AI demand

Technology Tuesday, October 20, 2026 - Updated Oct 20, 2026 17:31

Super Micro Computer raised its preliminary fiscal first-quarter revenue outlook to $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion, from $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion previously, and its shares rose 12 percent in after-hours trading on Tuesday.

Why it matters: Supermicro builds the server racks much of the AI buildout runs on, so a revenue guide roughly $4 billion above its own previous forecast, and well above the $14.99 billion analyst consensus, is a direct read on how fast data centre orders are converting into shipped hardware.

Super Micro Computer said preliminary revenue for its fiscal first quarter, ended September 30, will be $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion, up from its previous forecast of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion and well above the $14.99 billion analyst consensus Investing.com cited, and it raised its gross margin outlook to 12.0 to 12.5 percent, from 10.4 to 10.8 percent, on a more favourable customer and product mix. Its shares rose 12 percent in after-hours trading on Tuesday. The raise follows a July warning that fourth-quarter revenue would come in near the low end of guidance, and the company is scheduled to discuss its results on an earnings call on November 3.
