Pivot Energy, a distributed solar and storage developer and independent power producer, has secured a 500 million dollar corporate credit facility from Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Capital. The three year bilateral facility will finance late stage project development and equipment procurement and provide additional financing capacity for Pivot’s growing portfolio of operating assets.
Chief executive Tom Hunt called it the most transformational financing in Pivot’s history, saying it reflects the company’s move from an early stage developer to an established independent producer that owns and operates the assets it builds. Pivot currently operates more than 200 megawatts DC of solar capacity and expects to have more than 1 gigawatt of solar and over 700 megawatt hours of storage in operation by the end of 2029.
The company plans to use the financing to bring more solar and battery projects online, including dispatchable projects in areas facing grid constraints. In 2025 Pivot closed three financing agreements totalling 225 million dollars, a 170 million dollar upsized construction warehouse, a 40 million dollar equipment facility and a 15 million dollar corporate facility, so the Nuveen line more than doubles its recent annual financing volume in a single commitment.
Mercom’s sector data put the raise in context: debt financing for the solar sector reached 13.2 billion dollars across 44 deals in the first half of 2026, up 69 percent from a year earlier. Corporate facilities of this kind, lent against a developer’s platform rather than a single project, are how mid sized distributed generators are scaling while project level tax equity and construction debt remain rationed.
