The United States announced on Friday the successful resolution of the USMCA Rapid Response Labor Mechanism matter at the Amphenol Optimize facility in Nogales, Sonora, which makes automotive and aerospace connectors, cables and components. The United States and Mexico agreed a course of remediation for labor rights violations at the plant, including employer interference in union activity and retaliatory dismissals, and USTR said that plan has now been implemented.

Under the remediation, the facility reinstated nine workers with full backpay and benefits, adopted a neutrality statement on freedom of association and collective bargaining, and installed a complaint mechanism for workers. The Trade Representative has directed the Secretary of the Treasury to resume liquidation of unliquidated entries of goods from the facility.
