Houthis report four killed in strikes on western Sanaa

Politics Saturday, October 24, 2026 - Updated Oct 24, 2026 09:18

The Houthi-run al-Masirah channel reported that four people were killed and several wounded in airstrikes in western Sanaa on Saturday, blaming Saudi Arabia, which had not confirmed the attacks.

Why it matters: A strike on the capital with reported civilian deaths would mark another step in the renewed Saudi-Houthi war, fought around Red Sea energy routes since the four-year truce broke down in July.

Data as of ORF report of October 24, 2026, in German, read in full. The death toll and the attribution to Saudi Arabia are the Houthi movement's account via its al-Masirah channel, as carried by ORF; ORF reported no Saudi confirmation of the attacks, and the figures are not independently verified here. A Le Monde report of the same strikes could not be read. Developing item.

The Houthi-run al-Masirah television channel reported on Saturday that four people were killed and several wounded in airstrikes in the west of Sanaa, and the Houthis blamed Saudi Arabia for the attack, ORF reported. Eyewitnesses also reported airstrikes west of the city, with clouds of smoke seen, and al-Masirah reported about 20 airstrikes in the port city of Mokha. There was initially no confirmation of the attacks from the Saudi side, ORF said.
