Core Stack, the digital infrastructure business of Lazzari Group, and private equity firm Green Arrow Capital have detailed plans for a network of 13 medium sized data centers across Italy backed by more than 1 billion euros, about 1.16 billion dollars, of investment, ANSA reported. Facilities will be developed in industrial areas nationwide, starting in the north and northeast and then the centre south, with each site paired with an adjacent renewable energy plant.
The first two sites, on brownfield land near Cremona and Verona, are in advanced stages of permitting, with construction expected to start at the end of 2027 for a first quarter 2028 go live. The venture is also considering battery storage developed with the Polytechnic University of Milan to improve energy performance. The programme is funded through Green Arrow’s second energy and digital infrastructure fund, GAIF II, which is still in fundraising.
