The Bank of Canada decides on Wednesday, October 28 at 09:45 ET, with the Monetary Policy Report released at the same time. Nothing in Monday’s pool moves Sunday’s preview: a Reuters poll majority expects a 25 basis point hike to 2.50 percent, Rabobank expects a hold at 2.25 percent, and swap pricing implied about 85 percent of a hike. The full preview stands in yesterday’s story and is not rewritten here.
The Bank of Japan decides on Friday, October 30, and its preview is likewise unchanged. The bank is expected to hold at 1.25 percent, to judge underlying inflation at its 2 percent target in the Outlook Report, and to leave December 18 as the meeting markets price for the next hike. Tokyo CPI for October, due Friday morning Tokyo time, is the last data check before the decision.
France and the ECB succession are unchanged on the day. Sunday’s story recorded the French 10-year spread over Germany at 170 basis points at Friday’s close, after 177 basis points on Thursday, and Bloomberg’s framing of the rout as central to the ECB succession endgame. No new closing spread was published in Monday’s pool, so the story is not updated; Thursday’s ECB decision is the next event that can move it.

Its rates relevance is the funding channel: the two governments agreed to develop the Multilateral Defence Mechanism and the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank as two distinct but complementary institutions working in partnership, which settles the structure any future defence issuance or lending by either body will take.
