Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation, the Nevada based silver and gold developer that owns the Hycroft mine near Winnemucca, reported its third quarter results on October 27 and filed its quarterly report on Form 10-Q. The company recorded a net loss of $26.1 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, compared with a $9.4 million loss, or $0.22 a share, a year earlier. For a company with no production revenue, the loss is spending, not operating performance, and the balance sheet is the more informative number: $211 million in unrestricted cash and no debt.
The work programme is where the cash is going. Hycroft has completed about 18,700 metres of drilling since its 2025-2026 exploration programme began, with results continuing to demonstrate high grade growth at the Brimstone and Vortex silver systems, and it is targeting about 22,000 metres of drilling in 2026, with further results expected in the fourth quarter. The drilling follows the company’s October 13 release reporting the best hole in its history at Vortex, which keeps expectations for the remaining results high and the disappointment risk symmetrical.
Processing is the other decision that will define the project. Conceptual design for a high grade underground mine and processing facility, developed with RESPEC and Hatch, is substantially complete and will feed project optimisation work planned for 2027. The trade off study between roasting and pressure oxidation is being finalised in the fourth quarter, with results expected in the first quarter of 2027, and heap leach metallurgical testing is expected to finish in the first half of 2027. Those two results will largely set the capital shape of any future development plan.
Management changed with the results. Michael Deal was appointed chief operating officer, and four new independent directors joined the board, adding mining operations, technical services, finance and governance experience. The company reported more than 1.5 million work hours without a lost time incident and a trailing 12 month total recordable injury frequency rate of 0.86. Silver miners rose 0.81 percent on the day but are down 8.82 percent on the week in the latest market tables, and spot silver fell 1.56 percent to $53.26 an ounce, so Hycroft’s 2027 milestones will be judged in a tape that has recently punished silver developers.
