Intel agrees to acquire quantum software firm Classiq

Technology Tuesday, October 27, 2026 - Updated Oct 27, 2026 10:43

Intel has agreed to acquire Classiq, the Tel Aviv quantum software company founded in 2020, in a deal reported at 2.2 billion dollars that is expected to close in the first half of 2027 and would make Intel a full-stack quantum computing provider.

Why it matters: The deal pairs Classiq's hardware-agnostic quantum software with Intel's silicon spin-qubit work and gives the chipmaker a commercial quantum business, and it lands with a governance wrinkle: chief executive Lip-Bu Tan was one of Classiq's earliest personal investors.

Data as of Intel and Classiq announced the agreement on October 26, 2026; Datacenter Dynamics report of October 27, 2026 and SiliconANGLE report of October 26, 2026, both read in full in this run, are the sources. Intel did not disclose the price in its own statement; the 2.2 billion dollar figure is as reported by Bloomberg and Israeli outlets and carried by both reports. Developing item.

Intel has agreed to acquire Classiq, the Tel Aviv company whose operating system turns high-level models into optimised quantum circuits that run across different types of quantum hardware, and said the deal will make it a full-stack quantum solutions provider, adding quantum processing units to its compute portfolio. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, the two companies will operate separately until then, and Intel said Classiq will become its global development centre for quantum computing. Intel did not disclose the price in its own statement; the 2.2 billion dollar figure comes from reporting by Bloomberg and Israeli outlets, and Intel chief executive Lip-Bu Tan was one of Classiq’s earliest investors, backing its 2022 Series B round and its May 2025 Series C.
