Japan’s Cabinet has enacted an order imposing definitive anti-dumping duties of 3.6 to 42.1 percent on nickel-added cold-rolled stainless steel coil, sheet and strip from China and Taiwan, for five years from October 31, the Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday.
Why it matters: The decision converts provisional duties in place since July into a five-year measure, keeping a price floor under Japanese stainless producers in a product where investigators confirmed dumped imports and material injury to the domestic industry.

The finance ministry and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry have investigated the product since July 22, 2025, after an application from domestic producers, and confirmed dumped imports and material injury to the Japanese industry. The Council on Customs, Tariff, Foreign Exchange and Other Transactions reported on October 19 that definitive duties were appropriate.
