Lockheed Martin has completed its acquisition of Ultra Maritime, a defence company specialising in undersea warfare and anti-submarine warfare systems for allied naval forces. Ultra Maritime develops sonar technologies, sonobuoys, torpedo defence systems, radar and electronic warfare products, and autonomous maritime sensing platforms.
The business will sit inside Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems area. Stephanie C. Hill, the area’s president, said the deal unites technology, capability and people to meet growing allied demand for undersea warfare capability. Lockheed said Ultra Maritime’s sonobuoy, towed sonar array and hull mounted sonar lines complement its own offer across next generation maritime platforms, and that the target brings an international customer footprint among allied navies.
Lockheed Martin did not disclose the purchase price or other financial terms in its closing release, and no valuation is reported here. The completion, rather than the price, is the development: a specialist supplier whose products are bought across allied fleets is now owned outright by the prime contractor that integrates many of those fleets’ combat systems.
