Advent International has raised $30 billion across its latest fund complex, the firm said on Tuesday, securing capital for a flagship buyout vehicle and a new mid-market strategy despite a sluggish exit market. The total comprises $27 billion for GPE XI, its eleventh global private equity fund, which Advent described as the largest buyout fund closed so far in 2026, and more than $3 billion in commitments for a mid-market strategy launched in March.
GPE XI will invest across sectors and deal sizes with a primary focus on Europe and North America, while continuing to expand the firm’s presence in Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Advent said. The mid-market vehicle will use the same deal teams to write equity cheques of between $100 million and $350 million into North American and European companies with enterprise values of up to $1.25 billion.
The firm said it secured the capital from new and existing investors including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, institutional managers, family offices and high-net-worth individuals. AltAssets reported that the raise follows $13 billion of realisations by Advent so far this year.
The announcement lands in a prolonged slowdown that has made it harder for buyout firms to sell holdings, curtailing cash distributions to investors and leaving them with less capital to commit to new funds. Advent’s ability to close the largest buyout fund of the year against that backdrop underlines how commitments are concentrating with the biggest managers.
