Lynas revenue jumps 55 percent on record rare earth prices

Mining Wednesday, October 28, 2026 - Updated Oct 28, 2026 22:42

Lynas Rare Earths reported gross sales revenue of A$310.1 million for the quarter ended September 30, up 55 percent from A$200.2 million a year earlier, as its average selling price rose 88 percent to a record A$102.1 per kilogram, and said a month-long planned maintenance shutdown at its Malaysian plant in the December quarter will reduce sales volumes against the September quarter.

Why it matters: Lynas is the largest rare earths producer outside China, so its record realised prices and a month of lost Malaysian output in the December quarter both bear on how much separated rare earth supply reaches buyers outside China this year.

Data as of Lynas quarterly figures for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as reported by Finimize on October 28, 2026 and read in full in this run, with the Malaysian shutdown also reported by Bloomberg on October 29, 2026. Lynas Rare Earths reported gross sales revenue of A$310.1 million for the quarter ended September 30, up from A$200.2 million a year earlier, a rise of 55 percent. Its average selling price rose 88 percent from a year earlier to a record A$102.1 per kilogram, helped by stronger market pricing, sales of bundled light and heavy rare earth mixes, and floor-price contracts that now cover more than half its output.

The company also flagged lower volumes ahead. Its Malaysian plant is set for a month-long planned maintenance shutdown in the December quarter, which it expects to reduce sales volumes against the September quarter, and its Kalgoorlie site in Western Australia is due a planned two-week outage in fiscal 2027 while Western Power upgrades the network.
