Pivot Energy, a distributed solar and energy storage developer and independent power producer, has secured a $500 million corporate credit facility from Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Capital, Mercom Capital reported. The three year bilateral facility will finance late-stage project development and equipment procurement, while providing additional financing capacity for Pivot’s growing portfolio of operating assets.
A corporate level facility differs from the project finance that dominates solar: the lender takes exposure to the developer’s pipeline and operating fleet as a whole, and the borrower gains flexible capacity it can draw against equipment purchases and late-stage development rather than negotiating asset by asset loans. Nuveen’s energy infrastructure capital arm is part of the insurance linked investment complex that has become a core lender to the US energy transition buildout.
The facility lands in a funding market that Mercom’s latest tally describes as debt led: announced solar debt financing in the first nine months of 2026 totalled $20.4 billion across 80 deals, up 61 percent on the same period of 2025. Terms of the Pivot facility beyond size, tenor and purpose were not disclosed.
