Latest, October 28: The full report fills in the split the provisional flash did not carry. The Device Solutions division, which houses memory, system chips and foundry, posted revenue of 147.1 trillion won and operating profit of 106.5 trillion won, with the Memory Business setting all time highs for quarterly revenue and operating profit as it scaled up HBM4 sales and managed its mix toward AI products amid capacity constraints. The rest of the group was in loss at the operating line: Samsung Display earned 1.1 trillion won on revenue of 8.0 trillion won, but the mobile and networks businesses lost 0.6 trillion won on revenue of 37.7 trillion won and the television and appliance businesses lost 0.2 trillion won on revenue of 13.9 trillion won, leaving the Device eXperience division with an operating loss of 0.8 trillion won overall.
Samsung also set the cash side of the quarter. The board confirmed a third quarter cash dividend of 4,601 won per common share and per preferred share, totalling 30 trillion won. Of the estimated 90 trillion to 110 trillion won of total shareholder returns for 2026, 35 trillion won is already planned or completed, leaving remaining resources of 55 trillion to 75 trillion won, which the company said will include a substantial share repurchase and cancellation programme alongside cash dividends. It said it is aware of market interest in the price gap between its common and preferred shares and will actively consider adjusting the preferred share proportion in the buybacks, and that the next return policy, the final 2026 amount and the execution plans will be finalised at a board meeting in late January 2027. Capital expenditure reached 29 trillion won in the quarter and is expected at about 84.4 trillion won for the full year.
Samsung Electronics disclosed provisional third quarter results on October 29 with operating profit of 107.4405 trillion won, up 783.1 percent from a year earlier, on revenue of 195.2532 trillion won, up 126.9 percent, Yonhap reported. Net profit was 75.1361 trillion won, up 514.6 percent, a figure the October guidance did not carry.
The operating profit came in 1.7 percent above the 105.6764 trillion won market forecast compiled by Yonhap Infomax, and it matches the guidance Samsung issued on October 8, which put operating profit at about 107.4 trillion won on sales of about 195 trillion won. The flash carried no division breakdown; the detailed report, covered above, has since supplied it.
