Anthropic on Wednesday launched a suite of reporting tools designed to give enterprise customers a granular view of what their AI spending buys. Using internal analytics and employee surveys, managers can view a team’s work over a given date range, what the team produced, how much it cost and where its workflows broke down, TechCrunch reported. Anthropic says it will not use this data for model training by default, and the reports offer recommendations on how to improve results. The company is also creating pooled group budgets so teams can manage token spending collectively.
The product answers the question this week’s Gartner findings pose from the customer’s side: spending on agentic coding tools has grown fast enough that finance teams are asking what it returns. TechCrunch, citing a Jellyfish report on agentic coding tool use, said Claude Code and other tools built on Anthropic models account for nearly a third of all proposed code changes submitted for review among the firms surveyed.
Anthropic’s position in enterprise coding is the asset being defended. TechCrunch reported that the release of OpenAI’s Astra model this summer has not, so far, slowed Anthropic’s adoption numbers in the survey data, and that switching costs rise as customers standardise workflows around a tool. Reporting tools deepen that standardisation: once a customer’s cost and output accounting runs through the vendor’s own dashboard, the vendor’s numbers become the numbers the renewal is negotiated on.
