The European Commission has greenlighted Czechia’s seventh and final payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility, worth 951 million euros. The Commission found that Czechia had satisfactorily fulfilled the 13 milestones and 25 targets attached to the request, which Prague submitted on August 31, 2026.
The measures in this tranche include more than 130 housing renovation and construction projects worth about 350 million euros, support for the Czech Oncology Institute and two new university campuses, renovation of more than 340 public buildings, and an expansion of the electricity distribution grid by more than 2 gigawatts of capacity to connect renewable generation. Transport items include a trolleybus connection to Prague Airport and safety upgrades on 68 kilometres of railway.
Czechia’s plan is financed by 8.4 billion euros in grants and 260 million euros in loans. This payment would bring total funds paid out to 8.6 billion euros including pre financing, or 99.4 percent of the total allocated under the plan.
The assessment now goes to the Economic and Financial Committee, which has four weeks to give its opinion, after which the Commission can adopt the payment decision. The small shortfall against the full allocation reflects a 48.81 million euro decommitment from the partial fulfilment of one milestone in an earlier request.
