Clayton, Dubilier & Rice has gathered about $20 billion in commitments for its thirteenth flagship buyout fund within roughly six months of launching fundraising, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The firm is targeting $26 billion for Fund XIII, and documents from the Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System, which has committed up to $200 million, show a hard cap of $28.5 billion.
The pace is twice that of the predecessor. Over a comparable span in 2023, Fund XII had amassed about $10 billion toward the same target, and several existing limited partners have committed more to the new vehicle than they did to the last, according to the report. CD&R is aiming for a final close in the first quarter of 2027.
At target size the fund would rank among the largest dedicated buyout vehicles ever assembled, in the same range as the roughly $27 billion Advent International gathered for its latest flagship, a fund noted in yesterday’s scan. CD&R reported about $87.35 billion of discretionary assets under management as of April 2026 in regulatory filings, according to summaries of the Bloomberg report.
The headline figure is single sourced to Bloomberg’s unnamed sources and has not been confirmed by the firm, so it ships at grade C. The pension system commitment and hard cap, which come from a public LP’s own documents, are the firmer elements of the story.
