Ukraine says it hit a Russian rocket fuel plant

Politics Saturday, October 31, 2026 - Updated Oct 31, 2026 08:45

Ukraine's General Staff said its forces struck the Kamensky combine in Russia's Rostov region overnight, a plant that makes solid rocket fuel for Uragan, Smerch and Tornado-S rocket artillery, and that a finished products warehouse caught fire and four production workshops were damaged.

Why it matters: Solid rocket fuel is a bottleneck input for the multiple launch rocket systems Russia uses against Ukrainian settlements, so a confirmed hit on its production would matter beyond one night's strike, but the claim so far is Ukraine's alone, with no Russian confirmation reported.

Data as of UNIAN report of October 31, 2026, in Ukrainian, read in full in this run, reporting a statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Telegram channel. Every operational claim in this item, the strike method, the damage and the plant's production, is the Ukrainian General Staff's own, reported by UNIAN; no Russian confirmation or independent verification was reported, so this item is carried at grade C. The plant produces solid rocket fuel for ammunition for the Uragan, Smerch and Tornado-S multiple launch rocket systems, and for other missile systems and aviation munitions, and the General Staff said a finished products warehouse caught fire and four production workshops were damaged.

The same General Staff report said four Russian logistics warehouses were also hit, near Khartsyzk and Dokuchaievsk in Donetsk region, Novovasylivka in Zaporizhzhia region and Novoaydar in Luhansk region. UNIAN carried no Russian response to the claims.
