ST Telemedia Global Data Centres is in talks with banks for a 3.1 billion Singapore dollar (2.4 billion US dollar) syndicated loan to finance its assets, Bloomberg reported, weeks after a KKR and Singtel led consortium completed its 6.6 billion Singapore dollar acquisition of the operator.
Why it matters: A fresh borrowing of this size, priced at 165 basis points over SORA for three years, would add another large layer of debt to a data centre platform that has just changed owners, in a sector whose AI buildout has already generated more than 650 billion dollars of debt since the start of 2025 on Bloomberg's count.

Standard Chartered, DBS, OCBC and United Overseas Bank are working on the proposed financing as global coordinators, mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners, on terms reported as a three year tenor at a margin of 165 basis points over the Singapore Overnight Rate Average, with an extension option of up to two years.
The talks follow the September completion of STT GDC’s acquisition by a consortium led by KKR and Singapore Telecommunications, which agreed to buy the operator for 6.6 billion Singapore dollars in a deal part financed by a 5 billion Singapore dollar loan from the same Singapore banks. STT GDC, founded in 2014, operates data centres across 12 countries including India, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy.
