The ISM Manufacturing PMI rose to 55.5 in October from 54.5 in September, one point above the consensus forecast, with production at 59.0, its highest reading since November 2021.

Why it matters: A tenth straight month of expansion with the strongest production reading in five years points to factory demand holding up into the fourth quarter, while a prices index still at 75.2 keeps factory gate cost pressure in front of the Federal Reserve.
