Nebul, the Leiden based private AI cloud provider, is expanding into Belgium. The company has contracted a second data center location at Datacenter United’s campus in Machelen, where it will deploy a SuperCluster of more than 1,000 liquid cooled Nvidia Blackwell Ultra GPUs in GB300 NVL72 rack scale systems supplied by Lenovo.
Chief executive Arnold Juffer framed the deployment in sovereignty terms: organisations want to amplify what they can achieve without giving up control over the intelligence they build, and demand is larger than the capacity Europe is building today. Nebul’s cloud offers Nvidia DGX, HGX, OVX and RTX platforms across B300, B200, H200, H100, L40S and L4 parts, and the company raised 20 million euros in June 2024. Earlier this year it said it would be the first cloud platform to offer Speedata’s Analytics Processing Units.
Datacenter United, founded in 2010, operates 14 data centers across 12 Belgian locations. Its chief executive Friso Haringsma said Europe’s AI ambitions require high density infrastructure able to support next generation workloads, and presented the Machelen deal as evidence Belgium has a meaningful role in that buildout.
The announcement carries no megawatt figure and no delivery date, which limits what can be concluded about timing. What it does show is the structure of Europe’s answer to the hyperscalers: local operators providing powered, liquid cooled shells, US silicon and systems vendors providing the compute, and small, well capitalised clouds selling control as the differentiator.
