Squarespace is laying off about 19 percent of its global workforce, around 300 employees, a spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch on Monday. The company said the changes are intended to simplify how it operates, sharpen its priorities and let it move faster in its next phase of growth.

The cuts come as website building shifts toward AI tools that generate a site from a short prompt. Squarespace went public in 2021 at a 10 billion dollar valuation and was taken private again in 2024 in a 7 billion dollar private equity deal.
