Correction: no Federal Reserve decision was scheduled today

Rates Tuesday, November 3, 2026 - Updated Nov 3, 2026 14:58

This morning we published a preview of a Federal Reserve policy decision at 2:00 PM today. No meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee was scheduled for today and no decision was taken; we have withdrawn the preview.

Why it matters: The decision the preview described took place on October 28, and readers were pointed to an event that did not exist. The committee next meets on December 8 and 9.

Data as of Correction written November 3, 2026, sourced to the Federal Reserve's own FOMC meeting calendar and press release pages on federalreserve.gov: the 2026 calendar lists meetings on October 27-28 and December 8-9 and none on November 3, and the most recent FOMC statement is the one issued on October 28, 2026.

This morning, Kilambi News published a preview of a Federal Reserve policy decision that it said would be announced at 2:00 PM Eastern today. That was wrong. The Federal Open Market Committee had no meeting scheduled for today, November 3, and it issued no statement. We have withdrawn the preview.

The decision the preview described, a hold in the target range for the federal funds rate at 3.75 to 4.00 percent, took place on October 28, when the committee approved it by a vote of 10 to 2, with Lisa D. Cook and Beth M. Hammack dissenting in favour of a quarter point increase. The committee’s next meeting is on December 8 and 9, and the minutes of the October meeting are due on November 18.

The error came from preview coverage of the October decision that circulated again as if a further decision fell today, and we did not check it against the Federal Reserve’s own calendar before publishing. We apologise for the error.
