AE Industrial closes 850 million dollar continuation vehicle for Blue Raven

Infrastructure Wednesday, November 4, 2026 - Updated Nov 4, 2026 07:08

AE Industrial Partners has closed an approximately 850 million dollar single asset continuation vehicle for Blue Raven, its defence distribution platform, led by Lexington Partners.

Why it matters: Continuation vehicles now fund defence supply chain roll ups at near billion dollar scale, letting sponsors hold scarce, hard to source component distributors for a second ownership period instead of selling them.

Data as of Closing announced November 2, 2026, in AE Industrial's own release; carried in this edition because it had not been covered on the site. The 850 million dollar figure is the size of the continuation vehicle, not a valuation for Blue Raven, which was not disclosed.

AE Industrial Partners has closed AE Industrial Partners BR Fund, LP, a new single asset continuation vehicle of approximately 850 million dollars in connection with the recapitalisation of its portfolio company Blue Raven. The vehicle is led by Lexington Partners, with additional investment from several other institutional investors, and Blue Raven management and certain existing shareholders rolled significant proceeds into the transaction. No valuation or rollover amount was disclosed.

Blue Raven is a technology enabled distribution platform serving the global defence marketplace, acting as the authorised and exclusive distributor of highly engineered parts, complex systems and hard to source components for a growing list of original equipment manufacturer partners, to customers in more than 40 countries. AE Industrial first invested in 2019.

The new capital is intended to fund organic growth initiatives and potential strategic acquisitions. AE Industrial manages about 9.4 billion dollars of assets, as of June 30, 2026, focused on technologies and services critical to national and economic security. Lexington, a Franklin Templeton owned secondaries manager, has more than 86 billion dollars of total capitalisation.

A continuation vehicle moves an asset from an older fund into a new one, giving existing investors a choice between liquidity and rolling over, while the sponsor keeps control. Using one at this size for a parts distributor underlines where scarcity sits in defence: not only in prime contractors, but in the authorised channels for components that are difficult to source at all.
