Pentagon lending arm commits $150 million to LeoLabs radar network

Infrastructure Wednesday, November 4, 2026 - Updated Nov 4, 2026 11:25

The Department of War's Office of Strategic Capital has signed a $150 million conditional loan commitment with LeoLabs, matched dollar for dollar by private co-investment, to accelerate deployment of its ground-based radar network for tracking objects in orbit.

Why it matters: The commitment puts $300 million of combined capital behind the only commercially available US provider of ground-based radar space domain awareness, expanding domestic radar manufacturing and sensing capacity as orbital traffic grows.

The Office of Strategic Capital said on Wednesday that its $150 million conditional loan commitment to LeoLabs is matched dollar for dollar with co-investment, for a combined $300 million capital infusion to scale production and deployment of multi-mission phased array radars, including the company’s mobile Scout units, and to expand its global radar footprint. LeoLabs operates a globally distributed radar network for space domain awareness and space traffic management, and the department described it as the only commercially available provider of ground-based radar space domain awareness in the United States.

The commitment is not a closed loan. LeoLabs must still satisfy financial, legal, technical, investment and due diligence requirements before financial close, and OSC investments director Jordan B. Sebold said the financing will help the United States maintain persistent custody of the objects that matter most in orbit.
