Sanofi ends Nurix STAT6 degrader programme in Phase 1

Life Sciences Wednesday, November 4, 2026 - Updated Nov 4, 2026 12:45

Sanofi has discontinued the Phase 1 trial of SAR448272, the oral STAT6 degrader it licensed from Nurix, and terminated the programme, Nurix said.

Why it matters: Nurix loses the future milestone and royalty stream on the programme a year after Sanofi exercised its option on it, and its shares fell sharply, although the company says its cash runway into the second half of 2029 is unchanged.

Sanofi has told Nurix it will discontinue the Phase 1 first in human trial of SAR448272, an oral degrader of the STAT6 protein involved in Type 2 inflammation, and terminate the programme, Nurix announced on Tuesday. Nurix said it no longer expects any future development, regulatory or commercial milestone payments or royalties on the programme, while remaining eligible for payments on its other licensed programmes under the collaboration, and that its cash guidance is unchanged, with $1.1 billion of cash and securities at August 31 funding operations into the second half of 2029.

Nurix did not give Sanofi’s reason. BioPharma Dive reported that Sanofi told Leerink Partners that emerging nonclinical findings did not warrant further development of the molecule in eczema, while adding that Sanofi still regards STAT6 as an important pathway. Nurix shares fell more than 40 percent in early trading on Wednesday, according to BioPharma Dive.
